"Dear Gretchen, I just finished the whole "Valley Cats" book. It was amazing. Is this book really Real? Chapter 14 was funny because the yellow lab Lucy was caught in the zucchini leaves! Rock-a-bye-kitty was funny too because when big Tim and the two cats went fishing and they caught a big fish. The book was great. I really enjoyed it. I would like to meet you sometime." — A. Stephenson, almost 9, Oshkosh, Wisconsin
President Obama Brings Home Valley Cats!
During President Barack Obama's Feruary 2011 trip to Marquette, Michigan, he visited Doncker's Candy store on Washington Street. He browsed many selections and purchased one of the Valley Cats books for his beautiful daughters.
"The author generously donated this to my school library. It's notable for being chosen by President Barack Obama for his daughters on a visit to Marquette, Michigan, in February 2011. This book is positively saccharine. The illustrations by Karin Neumann are lovely, and made me chuckle at times. They go very well with the stories of the two cats and their adventures. My favorite might be the one where River falls out of an apple tree onto the dog he was hiding from, as Boonie cowers and covers his eyes in another tree. My full review is available at http://moonlit-librarian.blogspot.com..."
